some nature options on the web

Hi All,

Sometimes we just can’t get outside – here are some fun options I have found:

I heard about this link this week.  They are a web education group that has live cams of nature in different parts of the world.   They are fun to watch.

There are only a few days left to catch the bears and salmon at Brooks Falls and only a couple of weeks before the bears show up in even bigger numbers on our lower river cam.

Find out from Ranger Roy what happens to the bears in the meantime and ask any question you like in the comments, or catch the live Twitter chat using the #bearcam hashtag on Monday, August 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST.

Never stop learning,

Charlie /

The Wildlife Center of Virginia – you tubes of recent releases

This week the Wildlife Center of Virginia will release two Bald Eagles that have been patients with us since May – two of the 24 eagles that we’ve treated thus far in 2012.  We’re doing two releases – one on Wednesday, August 1, and the second on Thursday, August 2.

On August 1, we’ll release a Bald Eagle rescued from southwest Washington, D.C. – near Bolling Air Force Base.  The young eagle – hatched earlier this year – will be released at Mason Neck State Park, along the Potomac River in Fairfax County [].  Ed Clark will be releasing the bird; we’re gathering at the Park Visitors Center at 11:00 a.m.

On August 2, the Center will release a young Bald Eagle that was rescued from the Hog Island Wildlife Management Area, along the James River in Surry County, Virginia.  This eagle will be released at Berkeley Plantation on the James River below Richmond [].  Ed will be releasing this bird as well; Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries [VDGIF] Director Bob Duncan [who transported this eagle to the Center back in May] will also be joining us.  This release is set for 10:30 a.m.  Release site directions can be found at:

Both of these releases are free and open to the public, and we’d love to have you join us.  Please feel free to share this invitation with family, friends, and other wildlife enthusiasts.

We’re taking RSVPs for these events.  Please reply to this email and please specify the number of participants, and which release.

[More information is at:]

I also wanted to let you know about the successful release of SIX Black Bears last Friday!

A beautiful video – I love to watch it and think of our awesome creating God
